Chris played minor hockey in Haliburton from 1988 to 1996, winning Ontario Championships at Atom and Peewee levels. He went on to play AAA hockey with the Central Ontario Wolves which led to OHL Draft selection by the Oshawa Generals.
Chris played 200 games in the OHL with the Generals (2001–04) and Kingston Frontenacs (2004–05), establishing himself as a reliable, two-way defenseman who contributed offensively from the blue line.His play was recognized at the national level with his selection by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft
While professional hockey was ultimately not his path, Chris continued his athletic and academic career at University of Western Ontario, earning an Honours in Business Administration at the Richard Ivey School of Business. He was the Mustangs’ Assistant Captain, was selected OUA First Team All-Star, and helped lead Western to an OUA Championship. As a four-year member of the Western Mustangs, he combined athletic excellence with academic achievement.
In his final season (2008–09), Chris was named to the Dean’s List and earned the Academic All-Canadian distinction. He was named a First Team All-Star at the National Championship Tournament and received Western’s Bronze W for his commitment to excellence in athletics.
Throughout his journey, he has remained a proud representative of Haliburton, serving as a role model and inspiration to young athletes in his community. The lessons Chris learned through hockey continue to shape his adult life, influencing how he approaches work, family, and community involvement.
