Julia Fedeski

Julia was four when she learned to skate on Boshkung Lake.

At seven, she became a pioneer for girls’ hockey in Haliburton County, joining the Highland Storm, a competitive boys’ team that made the OMHA All Ontario finals in 2007.

Julia played top tier hockey with the Barrie Sharks (Peewee and Bantam), becoming team captain. She accumulated league and provincial trophies, and silver in the IIHF World Youth tournament. Julia subsequently played for the Whitby Wolves (Midget AA)—OWHA bronze medalists.

Julia also competed at regional and provincial levels in track and field and field hockey during high school in Haliburton.

Julia earned a hockey scholarship at Bishop Strachan in Toronto. She captained her school team to the 2013 CISAA Silver Finals and, with the Toronto Aeros Club Team, won her third provincial bronze medal.

Julia won a full scholarship at the University of New Hampshire (Division 1) where she attained her Business Administration degree and distinguished herself on the women’s hockey team with 55 points, 38 assists, 17 goals and a tie for all-time UNH blocked shots.

In her 3rd year university, Julia was drafted by Boston Pride in the National Women’s Hockey League. However, she decided that she wanted to play in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League once she graduated. In 2018, she was drafted 18th overall by the Toronto Furies where she played for a year before the CWHL folded.

In 2019, Julia played on the North American Dream Gap tour, as part of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, alongside some of the best woman hockey players in the world. In 2020, Julia returned to Haliburton and coached the Highland Storm for a season before pursuing her career as a Chartered Professional Accountant.
