Owen Nicholls of West Guilford began curling as a 10 year-old in Haliburton’s youth curling program, and embraced the competitive aspect of the sport throughout high school. Playing lead in grade nine for the HHSS curling team, his team secured gold at the Ontario School Curling Provincial Championship. He also excelled as a member of several top Ontario junior teams, winning bronze at the Canadian Winter Games in 2023.
As a first-year university student, Owen curled for the Carleton Ravens at the OUA Championships and also skipped his own team to U18 Ontario silver, qualifying for a 2nd time for the Canadian U18 Championships. Owen extends his thanks to the Haliburton Curling Club and the local coaches who have mentored him over the years. “This is a huge reason why I am here today”. We look forward to following Owen and his accomplishment within the Canadian curling community for years to come.
